Immaculate Conception has a wonderful working relationship with Park United Methodist and out of that partnership and friendship, in which members of both churches work side by side and with members of the community, has come the Kenmore Free Store and the Kenmore Community Garden. Now we are very pleased to announce a new ministry from this partnership: the Kenmore Community Meal! This FREE meal is open to everyone and will be served from 5 pm to 6:30 pm on the last Tuesday of the month in Waldeisen Hall beginning June 25th. Cindy Baer, a member of Park U.M. and a former home economics teacher who headed the Celebration Supper at Park U.M., will head this project. We invite you to come, meet others from the community, enjoy a great meal and check out the Free Store which is open from 4:30 until 7 pm on Tuesdays.
If you would like to help, there are many ways to do that: be part of the kitchen crew, help with set-up and clean-up, be a greeter or server. To keep costs down, we also welcome donations which can be placed in the basket behind the last pew in the church; please keep this in mind when you do your weekly shopping! Here is a list of needed items: jars of spaghetti sauce, canned chicken, cream of chicken soup, chicken and beef broth or stock, pastas (any kind except spaghetti), canned fruit and vegetables, rice, Italian or Ranch dressing, boxes of jello or pudding, any cake mixes, lemonade or Koolaid mixes, coffee, powered creamer, sugar. This list will change as future menus are planned so stay tuned.
Please note: there will be no dinner in November (but everyone is invited to the Community Center for the KMA Community Thanksgiving Dinner) or in December as it is New Year’s Eve.
Please call the rectory to share your stewardship with this awesome new ministry: 330-753-8429.
