Lenten regulations, diocesan resources and more

The 3 Pillars of Lent are prayer, fasting and almsgiving. Prayer: do a daily scripture reading, go to weekday Mass, watch daily Mass from the diocese at www.diocesofcleveland.org, make a Holy Hour, go to Confession, pray the Stations of the Cross, pray for your fellow parishioners and an end to this pandemic. Fasting: Ash Wednesday and Good Friday are days of fast and abstinence. Fasting is obligatory for all between the ages of 18 and 59: eat one full meal, 2 smaller meals not equal to the one full meal and no in-between snacks. Abstinence is obligatory beginning at the age of 14: no meat or meat products. Almsgiving: Rice Bowls to support the global work of Catholic Relief Services (CRS) are at all church doors and the rectory for pick-up. Go through your closets and find good, gently used clothing you are no longer wearing; wash and bag it and bring it to The Free Store when it re-opens. The store also takes linens, household items, etc. Purchase needed items for the Community Meal, make a donation to St. Vincent de Paul using the envelope in your packet, support missionary work. Stations of the Cross and benediction will be prayed in church on Fridays at 6:30 pm. To keep people safe and healthy, Station books will not be distributed.

The diocese of Cleveland has developed many different types of Lenten resources including daily reflections from Bishop Malesic, videos and more. Check them all out at www.dioceseofcleveland.org
