Parish Leadership Transition

On Tuesday, May 31, 2022, Fr. Dan Schlegel, Secretary and Vicar for Clergy, Diocese of Cleveland, addressed parishioners regarding the future of the parish. As you may know, Fr. Mike retired on June 7, 2022 because he reached the mandatory retirement age for priests. Bishop Edward Malesic appointed Melissa Keegan, who was the Pastoral Associate, as Parish Life Coordinator effective June 7, 2022. Melissa has been in ministry at I.C. for 40 years and was certified as a Lay Ecclesial Minister for the Diocese of Cleveland by the late Bishop Anthony Pilla in 2000. As PLC, she will oversee all daily operations of the parish.

Masses and Confession: Fr. Mike has graciously agreed to serve as the Sacramental Priest for I.C., celebrating Mass and hearing Confessions as he has done so faithfully for 24 years here.

New Auxiliary Bishop!!

Bishop Malesic announced that Pope Francis has appointed a priest of the Diocese of Cleveland, Fr. Michael Woost, as an auxiliary bishop for the diocese. Bishop-elect Woost will be ordained to the episcopate on August 4th at the Cathedral. A graduate of St. Ignatius High School, Borromeo and St. Mary Seminaries, ordained in 1984, he also earned a degree in sacred theology in 2000 from the Catholic University of America and has been teaching sacramental-liturgical theology as a faculty member at St. Mary Seminary and Graduate School of Theology. Interesting fact: He has two brothers who are also priests in our diocese – Fr. Dave and Fr. Tom Woost!

Alleluia – He is risen!!

Thank you to all who came to decorate the church – it is beautiful and the flowers make it smell heavenly!! We wish you all a joyous and blessed Easter season.

May Crowning

We held our May Crowning service on Thursday, May 5th. Thank you to Becky Plasity for crowning our Blessed Mother and to those who brought flowers for Mary’s shrine.

99 Years and Counting! Time to celebrate – update.

On Wednesday, March 23rd we marked the 99th year of ministry to the Kenmore area with Mass and a small reception. We look now to our 100th year and new and exciting ministry opportunities. We are forming a committee to plan various activities as we head into our 100th year. If interested in serving on the committee, please call the rectory at 330-753-8429 to share your stewardship. Unfortunately the camera battery, newly charged, failed, so there are no pictures of those who came over to celebrate, but Beth and Joe Langton took these of the cakes and the new banner. I.C. Spirit – catch it!
