Feast Day Celebration

On December 8th, the Church celebrates  the Immaculate Conception of our Blessed Mother.  This doctrine, declared a dogma of the Church by Pope Pius IX on December 8, 1854, affirms that Mary was preserved, from the moment of her conception, from the stain and consequences of original sin  as she would become the Mother of Jesus, the Savior of the world, and the first to benefit from what Jesus would win for all of us.

Because the feast day fell on a Saturday this year and because it IS our parish feast day, we celebrated with a light luncheon following the 11:00 am Mass.  Thank you to those who made and donated salads and side dishes and thank you again to our wonderful Parish Activities Committee.  As you can see everyone enjoyed the food and followship.  Happy Feast Day!

Game Night Recap

As the pictures show, a fun time was had by all at Game Night, Friday, November 9th.  Hope you join us at our next event!

Ministry Fair – update

Immaculate Conception held a Ministry Fair on the weekend of October 13-14.    Like any family, our family of faith has work to be done and we need everyone to be involved.  Our motto is “Everyone can do something” so what will you do???  I.C. Spirit – catch it!   Check out these pics from the event.  If you couldn’t attend, but see a ministry or group that “speaks” to you, give us a call at 330-753-8429!

Kenmore Free Store News – update

The Kenmore Free Store, a partnership between Park United Methodist Church and Immaculate Conception Parish is located in the basement of the school at Immaculate Conception.  The entrance to the store is located at the back of the school, off the parking lot; the blue metal donation bin is in the parking lot near Maher Hall.  The first floor of the school is being used for storage, sorting and seasonal items.

Store hours are Tuesdays from 4:30-7 pm and Saturdays from 9:30 am-noon.  If you would like to help with sorting, greeting, helping shoppers or check-out, please call the rectory; we’d welcome your stewardship.  Join with other parishioners and make new friends by lending a hand.

Donations may be dropped in the bin, provided they fit – please do not just drop things off outside the bin and please tie up the bags before putting them in the bin.  If you have items that won’t fit in the bin or are breakable, please come into the store during store hours and let us know.  We’ll have you drive around to 16th St. and we’ll meet you there to accept your donations.

All are welcome as shoppers.  We do not need ID, address, phone numbers or any type of government papers.  We just need to know your zip code, the number of people in your household and their ages.  Come by to shop or to see the store in action.

I.C. Night at the Rubber Ducks – Recap

The parish hosted its annual outing to the Akron Rubber Ducks on Friday, July 13th when the Ducks took on the Binghamton Rumble Ponies.  What the heck is a Rumble Pony???  Besides fireworks after the game, we were also able to see Tim Tebow, former quarterback for the University of Florida and several pro football teams, who is the left-fielder for the Rumble Ponies; his first at-bat was a home run.  It wasn’t looking good for the Ducks as they trailed 5-0 going into the bottom of the 7th, but they scored 5 runs to tie up the game.  In what became an exciting see-saw battle, the Ducks pulled it out in the 11th inning by a score of 8-7!!  The Indians also knocked off the Yankees so it was a great night for the Indian’s organization.  Thank you to all who came out for some fellowship and to support the Ducks.

May Crowning 2018
